Nose Correction in Berlin

Nose correction, also known as rhinoplasty, is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic surgeries in Germany. At the same time, it is one of the most demanding treatments in aesthetic surgery. Various corrections can be made during a surgical nose correction, such as reducing an overly large nose, straightening a crooked nose, correcting a hump on the nose, reshaping the nasal tip, and straightening the nasal septum. Especially in Berlin, we offer a wide range of nose corrections tailored to the needs of our patients.

How does a nose correction proceed?

A nose correction, also called a nose surgery, is usually performed as an inpatient procedure and lasts about 1.5 to 3 hours. The procedure is done under general anesthesia. The course of the surgical nose correction depends on the patient's wishes and the anatomical conditions. Both bony structures and cartilage and soft tissues can be reshaped or removed during the operation. It is possible to correct only the nasal tip or to reduce and align the nostrils.

Before the nose correction, a detailed consultation with the surgeon is conducted to determine the optimal approach to achieve the desired result. The operation is performed endoscopically or through incisions inside the nose, so there are no visible scars later. The nasal skeleton is exposed to make corrections to the bony and cartilaginous parts, such as straightening a nasal hump. After the procedure, the incisions are sutured, and a protective cast is applied.

How long does the nose correction take?

Initial corrections during a nose correction typically take about 1.5 to 3 hours. More complicated procedures, such as secondary nose corrections or nose reconstruction using ear cartilage, can take up to 3 hours and, in rare cases, even longer. The exact duration depends on the type of surgery and the individual needs of the patient.

What does the aftercare look like after a nose correction?

Aftercare following a nose correction is crucial for the long-term success of the operation and should be carried out carefully over several months. Since various types of tissue need to heal, the recovery phase after a rhinoplasty is relatively long. It is recommended to stay in the clinic for a few days after the nose surgery. In the first few days, the nose is significantly swollen, and bruising may occur. During the first two weeks after the nose correction, the nose should be kept still and protected. When sleeping, it is advisable to keep the head slightly elevated. The cast is usually removed about 10 days after the surgery. A preliminary result of the nose correction can only be assessed about six months after the procedure.

When can I resume sports after a nose correction?

After nose corrections, anything that can raise blood pressure should be avoided, such as sports, heavy lifting, sauna visits, or hot baths – for about 4 weeks. Extended sunbathing is only advisable after 3 months. Showering is allowed, but you should have assistance when washing your hair until the cast is removed (usually after 14 days). It is recommended to lean back while doing so, possibly at the hairdresser, to protect the cast and the nose.
